ABOUT CYSTIC FIBROSIS
CF is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. About 1,000 new cases of cystic fibrosis are diagnosed each year with 10 million unknown carriers in the U.S. Individuals with CF have a defective gene that causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the airways, leading to life-threatening lung infections. You can learn more about CF at www.cff.org.
